Golar, Black & Veatch ink floating ammonia, green LNG pact

Golar has joined forces with US-based engineer Black & Veatch to work on floating ammonia production, carbon capture, green LNG and hydrogen.

The move comes on the heel of the two companies’ long-standing cooperation in the floating LNG production segment.

Golar brings to the table its FLNG experience, so is B&V that also has expertise in green technologies.

Within 2020, the duo said it aims to publish a paper on their first area of interest for collaboration. This will be floating ammonia production with carbon capture and storage or floating blue ammonia.

Additionally, the partners plan to publish more papers as they focus in on the technical and commercial viability of the “most prospective” floating applications. These include both green and blue technologies.

Furthermore, this also includes other areas of interest that the duo intends to investigate together.

The duo added that any project development and implementation that builds on these studies will be subject to a separate commercial deal between them.
