Croatian FSRU gets LNG cargo from Mozambique

Croatia’s FSRU-based Krk terminal has received a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo from Eni’s Coral Sul FLNG located off Mozambique, according to shipping data.

State-owned terminal operator LNG Croatia said in a short statement that the 2018-built 174,000-cbm, Seapeak Glasgow, arrived at the 140,000-cbm FSRU on April 1.

The LNG terminal operator said this is the 59th LNG cargo for the FSRU since it started operations in January 2021.

According to its AIS data provided by VesselsValue, Seapeak’s LNG carrier loaded the cargo last month at Eni’s 3.4 mtpa Coral Sul FLNG located offshore Mozambique.

The Croatian FSRU received its first LNG cargo from Eni’s FLNG in Mozambique in January this year.

Eni shipped the first cargo from this FLNG in November 2022, adding Mozambique to the LNG producing countries. BP takes all of the volumes produced at the FLNG as part of a long-term deal.

The Krk terminal mostly receives LNG cargoes from the US. Besides Mozambique, it also received shipments from Egypt, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, and reloads from Dunkirk, Zeebrugge, and Barcelona.

Some of the terminal users include a unit Switzerland-based trading firm MET Group and Hungary’s MFGK.

European LNG demand spiked since February last year as European countries look to boost energy security and replace pipeline gas supplies from Russia.

Due to high demand, Croatia also decided to further increase the capacity of its FSRU-based LNG import terminal to 6.1 bcm.
