South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering has awarded two new orders to French LNG containment giant GTT.
GTT said in a statement on Tuesday that it won the contracts in the first quarter of this year and the tank design deals include three 174,000-cbm LNG carriers.
DSME will build two of the LNG carriers on behalf of a European shipowner, and the other for an Asian shipowner.
All of the LNG carriers will feature GTT’s NO96 GW membrane containment system.
GTT added that the delivery of the vessels is scheduled between the first and the second quarters of 2027.
The Paris-based firm did not provide any additional information.
DSME, which is being acquired by Hanwha, revealed its first LNG carrier order in 2023 on February 13.
Under this order worth about $249 million, the shipbuilder will construct one LNG carrier for Japan’s shipping giant MOL and deliver it by March 2027.
Last month, Maria Angelicoussis-led Maran Gas booked two new 174,000-cbm LNG carriers at DSME for about $256.2 million per vessel.
DSME plans to deliver these two LNG carriers by June 2027.
