Singapore’s Pavilion starts LNG deliveries under Chinese supply deal

Singapore’s Pavilion Energy, a unit of Temasek, has shipped the first small-scale LNG cargo to China as part of a supply deal it signed with Zhejiang Hangjiaxin Clean Energy in 2021.

Pavilion agreed the term deal with Hangjiaxin in December 2021.

Under the contract, Pavilion Energy Trading & Supply will deliver up to 0.5 million tonnes of LNG from Singapore to Hangjiaxin from 2023.

The firm loaded the first shipment over the weekend on board the 46,200-cbm small-scale carrier, LNG Jia Xing, from the Singapore LNG terminal on Jurong Island, Pavilion said in a social media post.

“This delivery further reinforces Pavilion Energy’s commitment to enhance Singapore’s position as a regional LNG hub,” Pavilion said.

This small-scale carrier will deliver the shipment to the 1 mtpa Jiaxing LNG terminal in eastern Zhejiang province.

The LNG terminal, operated by Hangjiaxin, received its first LNG cargo from Malaysia on July 21, 2022, according to reports from China.

Hangjiaxin is a joint venture between city gas distributors Jiaxing Gas and Hangzhou Gas.
