Slovakia’s SPP opens new LNG fueling station

Slovakia’s gas supplier SPP has recently launched its second liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueling station for vehicles and plans to open another one later this year.

The new filling station in Presov adds to the station in Trnava which SPP launched earlier this year.

Besides offering LNG for the heavy-duty sector, the filling station in Presov also offers CNG for cars and buses, according to a statement by SPP issued last month.

The new station is also part of the fueLCNG project, which aims to build LNG and CNG stations on the main corridors in Slovakia.

It is supported by the European Commission and co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).

SPP said it aims to open the third LNG station in Brodske under the project later this year.

All of the stations feature one LNG tank with a capacity of 80 cbm.

According to data by Gmobility, previously known as NGVA Europe, Slovakia currently hosts seven LNG stations.

There are in total 667 stations in Europe, out of which Germany hosts 166 and Italy 140 stations.
