Samsung Heavy awards LNG tank gig to GTT

France’s GTT is continuing to receive new orders and has secured a contract from South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy for the tank design of a new 174,000-cbm LNG carrier.

GTT said in a statement the yard is building the vessel on behalf of a ship-owner whose name remains confidential at this stage.

Furthermore, the vessel will feature GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system.

GTT added that Samsung would deliver the vessel in the third quarter of 2023.

This marks the third tank order with South Korean yards GTT revealed this month.

Early in December, GTT said it won a contract from Daewoo to design tanks for six ARC7 carriers that will serve Novatek’s Arctic LNG 2 project.

Additionally, the French LNG containment firm secured an order with Hyundai Heavy for two 174,000-cbm carriers.
