Himalaya Shipping makes management changes

LNG-powered bulker owner Himalaya Shipping has made management changes after the resignation of its contracted chief financial officer Vidar Hasund.

According to a statement by Tor Olav Trøim’s Himalaya issued on Monday, Hasund will still be available as an advisor to the board and the management team of Himalaya and will continue as CFO for 2020 Bulkers.

Moreover, Herman Billung will be appointed as acting CFO of Himalaya, under the management agreement between 2020 Bulkers Management and Himalaya, and continue as acting CEO under the same agreement, it said.

Himalaya has also moved the roles of chief accounting officer and financial controller to London.

Alfi Lao joined Himalaya as chief accounting officer in April 2023.

She has more than 10 years accounting experience in the shipping industry, having served in various accounting roles at Golar LNG and Golar LNG Partners from 2012 to 2023, Himalaya said.

China’s New Times is building 12 LNG-powered Newcastlemax bulk carriers for Himalaya.

Earlier this year, Himalaya took delivery of the first vessel, Mount Norefjell, followed by the delivery of the second vessel, Mount Ita, and the third vessel, Mount Etna.

The latest and the fourth LNG-powered bulker, Mount Blanc, joined Himalaya’s fleet on May 31.

NTS also recently launched the LNG dual-fuel, Mount Neblina, the sixth vessel in this batch of twelve and started work on the two last vessels in the batch.

Up to date, Himalaya secured charter deals for nine of these ships.
