South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering is to deliver the first out of two Minerva LNG newbuilds following the completion of the vessels’ gas trials.
The 173,400-cbm Minerva Psara completed its gas trials on December 11.
Minerva Gas, a unit of Andreas Martinos-led Minerva Marine, will take delivery of the vessel in early January.
Following delivery, the carrier will start term employment with a major LNG charterer, Minerva said without revealing further information.
The newbuild features MAN ME-GI propulsion and GTT’s NO96 containment system.
Besides these two sister vessels at Daewoo, Minerva has another three 174,000-cbm LNG carriers under construction at the Samsung Heavy yard in Korea.
These vessels will have WinGD’s X-DF propulsion and GTT’s Mark III Flex Plus containment system.
