EnergyQuest: Australian LNG export revenue drops in June

Australian liquefied natural gas (LNG) export revenue dropped by 24 percent in June when compared to the same month last year, according to EnergyQuest.

The consultancy said in its monthly report it estimates that Australian LNG export revenue reached A$5.4 billion ($3.96 billion) in June.

LNG export revenue also dropped when compared to $5.8 billion in May, it said.

It rose 86 percent year-on-year in 2022 to a new record high due to higher oil and spot LNG prices, EnergyQuest previously said.

Based on EnergyQuest data for the financial year 2023/22, Australia earnt A$92.35 billion ($62.9 billion) on the back of 81.9 Mt of LNG exports.

This was a 31 percent increase compared to revenue of A$70.6 billion on exports of 82.5 Mt for financial year 2022/21, and more than triple the revenue of A$30.5 billion on exports of 77.2 Mt for financial year 2021/20, it said.

LNG exports down

According to EnergyQuest, Australian LNG projects shipped 6.59 Mt in June, or 95 cargoes.

This was down compared to 6.82 Mt, or 99 cargoes, in May, the consultancy said.

The projects shipped an average 3.2 cargoes per day, the same as the 3.2 per day average in May.

In June last year, Australian projects shipped in total 7.31 Mt, or 106 cargoes.
