Samsung Heavy nets order for LNG carrier duo

South Korean shipbuilding giant Samsung Heavy Industries has received an order to build two liquefied natural gas carriers.

The new order worth 408 billion Korean won ($370 million) comes from an Oceania-based ship owner, Samsung said in a filing on Monday.

Samsung did not reveal the name of the company behind the order.

Furthermore, the shipbuilder plans to deliver the vessels by February 2024.

The new order comes on the back of a contract Samsung recently revealed for one LNG carrier also for an Oceania-based ship owner.

This order marked the first LNG carrier for the giant shipbuilder this year.

Including the newest contract, Samsung won orders more than 4.4 trillion won worth so far this year.
