Mozambique LNG contract goes to Daewoo E&C

South Korea’s Daewoo Engineering & Construction has won a contract for the Total-led $20 billion Mozambique LNG project in Afungi.

The project’s EPC contractor CCS JV, a venture between Saipem, McDermott, and Chiyoda awarded the deal to Daewoo E&C.

Furthermore, the contract has a price tag of about $455 million and includes the construction of two 6.4 mtpa liquefaction trains.

Additionally, the scope of work entails steel structures, mechanics, piping, and electronic instruments at the Afungi complex in Palma in northern Mozambique, Daewoo E&C said.

The Mozambique project includes the development of offshore gas fields in Mozambique’s Area 1 and the liquefaction plant.

Total previously said it expected Mozambique LNG production to begin in 2024.

Other partners in the project are Japan’s Mitsui, Mozambique’s ENH, Thailand’s PTT, and Indian firms ONGC, Bharat Petroleum, and Oil India.
