Second LNG newbuild to join Capital Gas fleet

Greece’s Capital Gas is due to take delivery of its second 174,000-cbm XDF LNG carrier following the completion of the vessels’ gas trials.

South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries would handover the vessel named Aristidis I in early January, according to the unit of Capital Maritime.

Following delivery, Aristidis I will serve BP Shipping for a period up to 12 years under a charter deal.

This 299 meters long vessel follows the recent delivery of Aristos I that also serves BP’s shipping unit.

The delivery marked the official entry in the LNG shipping world for Evangelos Marinakis-led Capital Gas.

Furthermore, the shipping firm has five additional sister LNG newbuilds on order in South Korea scheduled for delivery throughout next year and one in January 2023.

All of the seven LNG carriers feature WinGD’s XDF engines and GTT’s Mark III Flex containment system but also an air lubrication system and increased filling limits.
