GasNet opens new Czech LNG fueling station

Natural gas distributor GasNet has launched a new LNG fueling station for trucks in the Czech Republic.

The LNG station is located in Jazlovice, near the Czech capital Prague, according to GasNet.

Besides this station, GasNet has LNG fueling stations in Nyrany, Mlada Boleslav, Klecany, as well as the LNG station located in the South Bohemian town of Kaplice.

The firm operates five LNG fueling stations in the Czech Republic and plans to build more due to growing demand for LNG as fuel in the transport sector.

Compared to conventional options, LNG “boasts a remarkable 20 percent reduction in CO2 emissions and a staggering 70 percent drop in NOx emissions,” GasNet said.

The firm said its network is “fully primed for the future of sustainable energy with liquefied biomethane, or bio-LNG, boasting a game-changing 95 percent reduction in emissions when measured against diesel.”

According to data by Gmobility, there are currently 8 LNG stations in the Czech Republic and 692 stations in Europe.

Germany continues to host the highest amount of LNG stations for trucks with 179 stations, followed by Italy with 142 stations.
