Wison’s FLNG design gets ABS approval

China’s Wison Offshore and Marine has received approval in principle from classification society ABS for its FLNG designs.

The offshore oil and gas division of conglomerate Wison Group said the approval includes its standardised 1.3 mtpa and 3 mtpa FLNG designs.

Furthermore, both of the designs will utilize SPB type tank technology to minimise construction schedule whilst also providing a robust cargo containment system, it said.

Additionally, WOM claims the firm’s inhouse design and FEED would offer “significant schedule and cost advantages” at the early stage of FLNG facility design.

WOM’s FLNG division general manager Wei Huaqing said “a major advantage” for its clients is the firm’s ability to undertake full hull and topside design and utilize both its Nantong and Zhoushan construction yards.

Based on previous FLNG delivery experience, WOM says it aims to ensure that it conducts gas testing and trials of the FLNG facility near its construction yard prior to arrival at project site.

In doing so, WOM “believes that investors will benefit through proven integrity of the CCS and gas processing system thus reducing project risk at the point of site commissioning and start-up phases.”
