TMS Cardiff Gas takes delivery of Dorado LNG

Greece-based shipping firm TMS Cardiff Gas has taken delivery of a new 174,000-cbm LNG tanker from South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries.

The newest addition to the shipping company’s fleet is the Dorado LNG.

As per specifications, the 293 meters long ship features GTT’s Mark III Flex containment system and two WinGD X-DF dual-fuel, low-pressure engines.

Following completion of gas trials earlier this month, the vessel departed Samsung’s Geoje yard and South Korea last week, its AIS data shows.

Dorado LNG was on Tuesday located in the Philippine Sea, in the western North Pacific Ocean, but its destination is unknown.

TMS Cardiff Gas said the vessel goes on a charter to a gas major but it did not reveal further information.

The new addition comes on the back of a recent delivery of Vivit Americas LNG.

This 174,000-cbm carrier with the same specifications as Dorado LNG departed Hyundai Heavy’s Ulsan yard in October.

Furthermore, Vivit Americas LNG serves a ten-year charter deal TMS Cardiff Gas has with Switzerland-based trader Vitol.

Earlier this year, the Greek firm also welcomed the 174,000-cbm Pearl LNG that serves a Shell charter.

TMS Cardiff Gas currently manages a fleet of 16 LNG carriers out of which four more are on order in South Korea. Three of these ships will also serve Shell under long-term charter deals.

The Greek LNG shipper aims to take the delivery of this quartet during 2021.
