Roof raised on first Tangshan LNG tank

China’s Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC), a unit of CNOOC, has completed raising the roof of the first storage tank at the Tangshan LNG import terminal.

COOEC said in a statement it completed raising the 900-tonne steel dome on the first 200,000-cbm storage tank on December 19.

Furthermore, the firm added this move lays a “solid foundation for ensuring the project’s 2022 production target.”

To remind, CNOOC’s engineering unit secured the EPC deal for the first phase of the Tangshan LNG import project back in 2019.

Hebei Construction Investment, which owns 51% of the LNG project located in Caofeidian Industrial Zone, awarded the contract worth about 4.4 billion Yuan ($623 million).

Moreover, the scope of work involves building four 200,000-cbm storage tanks and related supporting infrastructure including docks, process areas, and truck loading facilities.

Additionally, the project could also see the second and the third phase for a total annual capacity of 12 million tons of LNG, according to COOEC.
