Reganosa’s Mugardos LNG terminal goes green

Spain’s Reganosa says its Mugardos LNG terminal in the Ferrol port will from now on get power only from renewable sources as part of a deal with compatriot energy firm Naturgy.

Reganosa expects the LNG terminal will require about 25 gigawatt hours (GWh) of “green power” for its operation in 2021.

Furthermore, Naturgy will be in charge to bring “100% renewable energy to the facility with a certified guarantee of origin”, the LNG terminal operator said.

In this way, Reganosa doubles its commitment to sustainability and the environment, both of which are part of its decarbonization and energy transformation strategy, it said.

Launched in November 2007, the Mugardos LNG terminal has the capacity to supply 3.6 billion cubic meters per year of natural gas to the Spanish grid.

Additionally, the facility features two 150,000-cbm tanks but also a jetty capable of both unloading and loading operations and a truck loading facility.
