Saga LNG’s flagship in milestone operation

Saga LNG’s first mid-sized carrier Saga Dawn has completed its tenth voyage following delivery early last year.

The 45,000-cbm vessel, featuring the patented LNT A-Box tank system, delivered the tenth cargo on Monday at JOVO’s Dongguan terminal in China.

To remind, the vessel also delivered its maiden shipment to the same facility in April last year. Chinese privately-owned energy firm JOVO charters the vessel under a deal with Singapore-based Saga LNG.

Saga LNG’s chief and a partner in parent company Landmark Capital David Wu said the vessel carried out loadings at several LNG plants since delivery in January last year.

This includes Singapore LNG terminal, Bintulu complex in Malaysia, Indonesia’s Bontang LNG, and Hainan in China.

Wu added that the LNT A-Box system showed “very good performance” in cooling down, boil-off rate, loading and discharging operations.

Saga Dawn is the world’s first LNG carrier featuring an IMO type A LNG containment system, based on LNT Marine’s patented design.

China Merchants Heavy Industry’s Jiangsu yard delivered the ABS-classed vessel equipped with Wartsila dual-fuel main and auxiliary engines.

Besides this vessel, Saga LNG is also working on other designs ranging from 12,000 cbm to 80,000 cbm. This includes mid-size vessels that would transport cargoes to facilities along China’s Yangtze River.
