Video: CIMC SOE launches Avenir LNG’s small-scale vessel

China’s Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering has recently launched a 7,500-cbm liquefied natural gas bunkering and supply vessel for Avenir LNG.

The dual-purpose, small-scale vessel Avenir Aspiration will join Avenir’s fleet later this year.

London-based Avenir, a joint venture consisting of Stolt-Nielsen, Hoegh LNG and Golar LNG, has two such vessels on order at the Chinese yard.

These ships are 116 meters long and feature dual-fueled propulsion and type C tanks.

They are similar to the two ships Avenir ordered at Keppel Offshore & Marine’s Nantong yard.

To remind, Avenir already took delivery of the first Keppel vessel Avenir Advantage that works under a long-term charter for Malaysia’s Petronas.

Additionally, the second ship in this batch Avenir Accolade, scheduled for delivery during this quarter, will transport chilled fuel for Golar’s JV Hygo Energy to various ports across Brazil.

Besides these 7,500-cbm ships, Avenir also has two 20,000-cbm vessels on order at CIMC SOE. These carriers and bunkering vessels will also join the fleet during the course of this year.

On top of the newbuild program, Avenir LNG’s Higas small-scale terminal located on the Italian island of Sardinia is ready to go online.

The terminal features six horizontal low-pressure cryogenic Type C tank storage tanks with a total capacity of 10,800 cbm but it will also have a dedicated 7,500-cbm Avenir LNG carrier.
