Allseas bags Ksi Lisims LNG pipeline gig

Swiss-based offshore contractor Allseas has secured a contract from Houston-based Western LNG to install the subsea section of the Prince Rupert Gas Transmission (PRGT) pipeline in northwest Canada, which will deliver natural gas to the planned Ksi Lisims LNG export facility.

Located in the remote waters of northwestern British Columbia, near the Alaska border, the subsea pipeline forms the final link in a 700-kilometer system transporting Canadian natural gas to the LNG export facility on the Pacific coast.

Allseas said in a statement that its scope comprises approximately 50 kilometers of 36- and 48-inch concrete-weight-coated pipeline, connecting the onshore transmission system to the planned floating LNG facility on Pearse Island.

Pipelay vessels Solitaire and Sandpiper will execute the work in water depths ranging from the shoreline to approximately 450 meters.

The scope includes multiple shore crossings, shore pull-ins, above-water tie-ins, trenching activities, route stabilization, and pre- and post-lay span rectification.

Offshore installation activities are scheduled for 2029.

Allseas did not provide the contract price.

Ksi Lisims LNG, a joint venture of the Nisga’a Nation, Rockies LNG, and Western LNG, has yet to make a final investment decision on its project.

Pending FID by the project co-developers, construction could begin by early 2027.

The partners plan to produce 12 million tonnes per annum of LNG from two nearshore floating production facilities, which will have integrated storage with an aggregate capacity of about 450,000 cbm of LNG.

German energy firm Uniper just signed a long-term LNG sale and purchase agreement with Ksi Lisims LNG for volumes from the latter’s planned export project.
