Norway-based CoreMarine and Dutch firm Jumbo Offshore announced on Monday the award of a “significant” contract to perform the transport and installation of the soft-yoke (SSY) mooring systems, and hook-up of both the Hilli Episeyo FLNG and MKII FLNG, in Argentina’s Golfo San Matías.
The two firms did not provide the contract pricing details.
As lead contractor, CoreMarine will contract Jumbo Offshore to transport and install the SSY mooring system including heavy lift and piling activities.
CoreMarine will follow-up with diving and construction activities including spool installation, ballasting, riser hook-up, pre-commissioning, positioning, and hook-up of both FLNG units, the statement said.
The offshore campaign will involve complex, simultaneous operations including heavy lifting, riser installation, piling, spool installation, saturation diving, and multi-vessel SIMOPS.
Also, the project will require the chartering of multiple assets including DSV’s, support vessels, and station keeping tugs, the partners said.
The SSY systems, supplied by NOV, will enable both FLNG units to “weathervane around a single mooring point, aligning with environmental forces and providing a robust, cost-efficient solution that eliminates the need for fixed infrastructure such as jetties.”
CoreMarine and Jumbo Offshore both commenced project management and engineering in January 2026.
Hilli Episeyo FLNG is scheduled for installation in 2027, followed by MKII FLNG in 2028, marking the first application of SSY technology in Argentine waters, the statement added.
Golar FLNG’s
SES took a final investment decision on the second floating LNG production unit in August last year.
SESA will install two converted FLNGs owned by Golar LNG.
The MKII FLNG will be moored in the San Matías Gulf near FLNG Hilli, which is expected to start its 20-year charter with SESA during 2027.
Combined, the two units have a nameplate capacity of 5.95 mtpa.
In addition to these units, Argentina’s state-owned oil and gas company YPF, Italian energy firm Eni, and Adnoc’s investment unit XRG are evaluating adding a third FLNG to further boost the capacity of the 12 mtpa phase of the integrated Argentina LNG project.
In February, XRG signed a binding agreement with YPF and Eni to join the 12 mtpa phase of the integrated Argentina LNG project.
Under the agreement, the partners will commence front-end engineering design (FEED) and related activities, including engineering, technical structuring, and key commercial and financing workstreams.
