Bravo Tankers opens US office with a focus on LNG

Italian shipbroking firm Bravo Tankers has opened a branch in the US as it looks to expand its activities in the LNG shipping industry.

Based in Houston, Texas, Bravo Group USA (BGU), will be headed by former BG executive Paal E. Thorsen.

The office would draw on “his considerable experience from principal side as well as brokerage to focus on LNG transportation and development,” Bravo Tankers said in a statement.

Besides LNG, the new office will focus on other sectors of the oil and gas market as well.

Paal has been present in Houston since 2001 including six years with LNG firm BG Group, now part of Shell, where he worked as director – business development global shipping.

When international health conditions allow, Paal will alternate between Houston and Bravo Tankers’ European offices in Genova and Geneva.

He will work closely with the spot, period project and newbuilding teams to develop the “best possible solutions to short and long term LNG and energy transportation requirements,” the Italian firm said.

Furthermore, Bravo Tankers said it plans key additions to its core LNG team in the Genova and Geneva office, respectively. The company will provide more details regarding the additions in due course.
