In June, Commonwealth received the Commission’s final order upholding authorization for its LNG export project.
The statutory deadline for requests for rehearing of FERC’s remand order was July 18.
According to Commownealth, no requests for rehearing were filed, and therefore Commonwealth’s authorization is now final and non-appealable.
Commonwealth told FERC in a filing dated August 13 that it is providing supplemental information to update the implementation plan and is requesting authorization to begin initial site preparation activities for the LNG facility.
Furthermore, Commonwealth has confirmed with FERC sthat no revisions are necessary to the environmental complaint resolution procedure included with implementation plan volume 3.1, submitted in October 2023.
With this submittal, Commonwealth has now filed information and supporting documents to
address all conditions of the order applicable to initial site preparation.
Commonwealth requests authorization by the Commission on or before September 19, 2025.

Commonwealth LNG recently announced it has contracted France’s Technip Energies to provide engineering, procurement, and construction services to build its facility.
The contract covers the delivery of six identical liquefaction trains using Technip Energies’ SnapLNG by T.EN modular and scalable solution.
Also, UAE’s Mubadala recently closed its previously announced investment in Kimmeridge’s gas and LNG unit SoTex, which has now been rebranded as Caturus. The deal includes Commonwealth.
Kimmeridige said that Commonwealth anticipates announcing a final investment decision later this year.
This year, the company announced long-term binding LNG offtake agreements with global purchasers, including Glencore, Jera, and Petronas.
Commonwealth expects its export facility to unlock approximately $11 billion in investments in Louisiana and an estimated $3.5 billion in annual export revenue, utilizing approximately 2,000 workers at the peak of construction and providing 270 jobs when the facility begins operations.
