Crowley’s shipping arm has formed a new energy unit with a focus on LNG and offshore wind services in the US and adjacent regions.
Crowley says the new energy division builds on the company’s 53-year experience supporting the oil and gas industry with US-flag vessel assets, engineering, and logistics services.
The US firm has provided LNG distribution services since 2013, when it acquired Carib Energy, the first company to receive a small-scale LNG FTA export license from the Department of Energy.
Since that time, Crowley has expanded its LNG services to include not only sourcing and distribution services for industrial and commercial customers, but also microgrid solutions, engineering services and vessel fuel bunkering services, the firm said in a statement.
This expertise includes fueling its own LNG-powered combination container/roll-on roll-off (ConRo) vessels, which operate weekly in the US mainland-to-Puerto Rico liner cargo trade.
