Founded in 2024, Dunmura is led by Peter Mackey, former CEO of UK-based small-scale LNG player Avenir LNG.
Under the sales and purchase deal (SPA), Galveston LNG Bunker Port (GLBP) can provide LNG to Dunmura on both a free-onboard (FOB) or a delivered-ex-ship (DES) basis, according to a joint statement.
The statement said that volumes delivered to Dunmura under the agreement will be used to serve the rapidly growing demand for LNG as a marine fuel for Dunmura’s customers.
“We are delighted to have concluded this agreement with the team at GLBP, the first we have announced since Dunmura’s establishment late last year. This agreement gives our customers access to the largest LNG production market globally,” Mackey said.
“As a company dedicated to the LNG bunkering sector, we see this agreement as a critical first step as we begin to build out our LNG supply portfolio globally,” he said.
Jonathan Cook, director of GLBP and CEO of Pilot LNG, said the signing of this agreement is an “important step for our project and highlights the lead that GLBP has in the Houston-Galveston region.”
“We look forward to working with Dunmura and its customers, with LNG bunker deliveries starting as soon as 2027,” he said.

In January, Pilot LNG and Seapath obtained environmental permits for their planned LNG bunkering facility in Galveston.
GLBP said at the time that it aims to secure all permits in the first quarter of 2025.
Also, GLBP plans to start construction by the first quarter of 2025, it said.
Last year, Pilot LNG and Seapath filed applications with the United States Army Corps of Engineers seeking authorization to build and operate their planned LNG bunkering facility in Galveston.
The partners said in January 2024 that they signed a lease agreement with the City of Texas City for 140 acres of land on Shoal Point in Galveston County.
In addition, Pilot LNG and Seapath secured gas supply for their planned LNG bunkering facility with GLBP entering into a gas supply agreement with Energy Transfer’s Houston Pipeline (HPL).
This gas supply agreement supports GLBP in providing LNG marine fuel to customers in the Galveston Bay Port complex, including the ports of Houston, Galveston, and Texas City, as well as Galveston Offshore Lightering Areas, on a long-term basis.
The partners claim the GLBP project will be the region’s first dedicated LNG bunker terminal to provide LNG as marine fuel.
