According to a social media post by Seaside LNG, Clean Canaveral’s 200th LNG delivery was completed on February 28.
The firm did not provide further details regarding the operation.
In March 2022, the 5,500-cbm Clean Canaveral, owned by Seaside’s bunkering company Polaris New Energy, completed its first operation in Jacksonville.
US-based Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding built the LNG bunkering barge, while Master Boat Builders built the tug named Polaris, which was joined with the LNG bunkering barge.
Fincantieri Bay also delivered the 5,500-cbm LNG bunkering barge, Clean Everglades, which is a sister ship to Clean Canveral, to Seaside LNG in 2023.
The barge features four 1,375-cbm IMO type C tanks and utilizes a cargo handling system designed and developed by Wartsila.
In addition to these barges, Seaside bought North America’s first LNG bunkering barge, Clean Jacksonville, from Tote Maritime Puerto Rico in 2023.
Built by Conrad, this LNG bunkering barge has no propulsion, and it features one 2,200-cbm GTT LNG tank.
Last year, Clean Jacksonville completed its first delivery to Carnival’s LNG-powered vessel, Carnival Jubilee, as part of a deal revealed in 2023.
In November 2023, the US firm backed by Houston-based Arroyo Investors entered into a term bunkering agreement with cruise giant Carnival to fuel the first LNG-powered cruise ship to call Galveston, Texas, its homeport, Carnival Jubilee.
Over 665 LNG bunkering ops
According to a separate social media post, Seaside LNG has completed over 665 LNG bunkering operations, delivering more than 250 million gallons of the fuel with its barges.
Most recently, the US Department of Energy issued an order that removes barriers for the use of LNG as marine fuel for vessels, as LNG bunkering in the US continues to grow.
The order modifies a prior order issued to Jax LNG under the previous administration that asserted new oversight for the use of LNG to power marine vessels.
Jax LNG is a small-scale coastal LNG facility located at Dames Point near Jacksonville, Florida that provides LNG as fuel to ships, including cruise ships, car carriers, petroleum tankers, and containerships.
The facility has a capacity of 360,000 gallon per day LNG with 4 million gallons of storage.
It is a joint venture between Seaside LNG and Pivotal LNG, a subsidiary of BHE GT&S.
