Adani, TotalEnergies wrap up first Dhamra LNG truck loading op

India’s Adani and France’s TotalEnergies have completed the first truck loading operation at their new Dhamra LNG import facility located in Odisha, on India’s east coast.

According to Adani Total, the 50/50 JV that operates the LNG import terminal, the loading operation took place on August 19 at the facility.

Adani Total did not provide further information regarding the operation.

With the successful loading, the terminal has demonstrated the capability to provide truck loading services to its users, Adani Total said.

“The truck loading facility will boost availability of natural gas in off grid areas with no gas pipelines, promote LNG in long haul trucking, and ensure cleaner fuels for industries,” it said.

LNG Prime reported on April 3 that the 138,273-cbm Milaha Ras Laffan delivered the commissioning cargo to the Dhamra LNG terminal from the giant Ras Laffan LNG complex in Qatar, operated by Qatargas.

Qatargas sold the LNG cargo on a delivered ex-ship (DES) basis to French energy giant TotalEnergies, who delivered it to Adani Total.

The Dhamra LNG terminal started supplying natural gas to the grid on April 18 as part of the commissioning phase.

Dhamra LNG said that commissioning was completed on May 6.

This facility is India’s seventh operational LNG terminal and the second of its kind on the east coast of the country.

The facility has a capacity of five million tonnes per annum (mtpa), with plans to double it in the future.

It features two tanks of 170,000 cbm capacity each, while the facility’s jetty is capable of handling LNG carriers from 70,000 cbm to 265,000 cbm capacity.

As per capacity takers, the JV entered into 20-year LNG regasification agreements with state-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and GAIL.
