RPGCL issued the tender to the 24 organizations that have signed the MSPA (master sale and purchase agreement) with Petrobangla for LNG supply on a spot basis.
The tender was issued on Monday, and it closes on April 23.
Including this tender, RPGCL issued eight tenders for a total of 19 spot LNG cargoes after QatarEnergy declared force majeure to its LNG buyers on March 4.
Qatar is the main LNG supplier to Bangladesh via long-term LNG deals.
Oman’s state-owned firm OQ last month released a short statement following reports that its unit declared force majeure on LNG shipments to Bangladesh’s Petrobangla.
RPGCL recently also issued an invitation to enlist additional spot LNG suppliers on behalf of the Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources.
The interested LNG suppliers may be a single company or a joint venture (JV) of
more than one firm, or a consortium.
RPGCL extended the submission deadline to April 23.
Bangladesh currently imports LNG via two FSRU-based facilities, both of which feature Excelerate Energy’s FSRUs.
The 138,000-cbm FSRU Excellence serves Bangladesh’s first LNG import facility, Moheshkhali Floating LNG or MLNG, operated by Petrobangla.
Excelerate’s 138,000-cbm FSRU Summit LNG serves as the second LNG import facility operated by Summit.
