Bocomm Leasing takes delivery of another LNG-powered tanker chartered by Shell

China’s Bank of Communications Financial Leasing Co (Bocomm Leasing) has taken delivery of another LNG-powered tanker that will serve a unit of LNG giant Shell.

CSSC’s Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) delivered the 109,000-dwt crude oil tanker, Proteus Rebecca, on October 24, it said in a statement.

This is the the third out of four LNG-powered Aframax tankers SWS is building for Bocomm Leasing.

The ship is 249.95 meters long, 44 meters wide, and it features two Type C LNG fuel tanks as well as WinGD dual-fuel main engine, according to SWS.

Norway’s Hoglund won a contract last year to supply the fuel gas supply systems for these four ships chartered by Shell.

Bocomm Leasing ordered twelve dual-fuel tankers in April 2020 at two CSSC yards for about $54 million per each vessel. All of these vessels will serve Shell.

Besides these four ships, CSSC’s Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) is building the eight other tankers.

Gloryholder Liquefied Gas Machinery (LGM Engineering) won a contract to supply LNG fuel systems for these vessels.
