China’s GSI wins order from EPS to build four LNG-powered tankers

Singapore’s Eastern Pacific Shipping has ordered four LNG dual-fuel LR2 oil tankers at China’s Guangzhou Shipyard International.

GSI said on Tuesday that the contract was signed at the Posidonia shipping event in Athens, Greece.

Besides the four 111,000-dwt LNG dual-fuel tankers, GSI also won a contract to build two 50,000-dwt methanol dual-fuel tankers from Vietnam’s Asia Pacific Shipping (ASP), it said.

GSI did not provide the price tag of the contracts or the delivery dates for the vessels.

So far, GSI won orders for more than 80 LNG dual-fuel and methanol dual-fuel ships, it said.

Earlier this year, EPS placed an order for two more LNG dual-fuel LR2 oil tankers at GSI.

Prior to that, EPS ordered last year two LNG-powered LR2 vessels at GSI scheduled for delivery in 2026 and with an option for two more vessels.

The vessels, each said to be worth more than $70 million, will be 250 meters long and 44 meters wide with a service speed of 14.5 knots.

EPS recently completed its 200th ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operation, as the company’s fleet of LNG-fueled vessels continues to expand.

The firm has a large fleet of LNG-powered vessels, including containerships, tankers, bulkers, and pure car and truck carriers.

According to its website, EPS has 74 dual-fuel vessels in its fleet of 250 managed vessels.
