CIMC SOE delivers Hartmann’s second LNG-powered LEG carrier

Chinese shipbuilder Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering has delivered the second of three LNG dual-fuel liquid ethylene gas (LEG) carriers to German shipping group Hartmann.

According to a statement by CIMC SOE, the shipbuilder held the naming and delivery ceremony on July 19 for the 7,200-cbm LEG carrier, GasChem Alster.

This vessel will serve a charter deal with Japan’s Marubeni.

Such as its two sister ships, the DNV-classed vessel features MAN dual-fuel engine and is about 116 meters long and 18 meters wide.

Also, the LEG carrier has a design draft of 7 meters and a deadweight of about 6,300 tons.

Hartmann took delivery of the first LNG-powered LEG carrier in this series of three vessels, GasChem Fuji, in April this year.

This vessel serves also serves a charter deal with Marubeni.

Moreover, CIMC SOE launched the third vessel in these series, GasChem Phoenix, in May this year.

GasChem Services, a part of Leer-based and family-owned Hartmann, expects to take delivery of GasChem Phoenix later this year.
