DSIC delivers new LNG-fueled containership to MSC

China’s Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC) has delivered another LNG dual-fuel containership to Switzerland-based shipping giant MSC.

DSIC handed over the 16,000-teu LNG dual-fuel containership, MSC Marie Leslie, on July 23.

The shipbuilder said in a statement that the vessel was delivered 161 days ahead of the contract schedule.

It is part of a series of eight ships being built for MSC.

In October 2024, DSIC delivered the first vessel in this batch, MSC Mariacristina.

Earlier this year, MSC took delivery of MSC Carmela, while MSC Dollete was handed over in April and MSC Josefina in May.

The newbuilds are 366 meters long and 51 meters wide, and can carry more than 16,200 standard containers.

The main WinGD engine has the iCER diesel energy-saving tech and can use low-sulphur fuel oil and LNG.

Also, the containerships feature a type B LNG tank independently designed and built by DSIC.

The tanks, made of 9 percent nickel steel, have a capacity of 13,000 cbm.
