DSIC hands over latest LNG carrier to CMES

China’s Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC) has delivered another LNG carrier to compatriot China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES), a unit of China Merchants Group.

DSIC held a naming and delivery ceremony for the 175,000-cbm LNG carrier, Sea Energy, on Friday.

The shipbuilder launched this vessel in March 2025, as the fifth vessel in a series of eight.

The LNG carrier is 295 meters long and 46.4 meters wide, with a design draft of 11.5 meters and a speed of 19.5 knots.

Also, it features WinGD X-DF 2.0 engine with an integrated ICER system, a reliquefaction unit, and GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system.

Before this delivery, DSIC handed over the 175,000-cbm LNG carrier, Sea Creation, to CMES in June, the third vessel in the series and the third large LNG carrier built by the Chinese shipbuilder.

As the first and second CMES LNG carriers, which were delivered in September 2025 and January 2026, Sea Creation will also serve a charter deal with Sinochem.
