Fairfield Chemical’s LNG-powered tanker delivered in Japan

Japan’s Fukuoka Shipbuilding has delivered Fairfield Chemical’s third in the series of four LNG dual-fuel stainless steel chemical tankers.

FCC, which was earlier this year acquired by MOL Chemical Tankers, a unit of Japan’s shipping giant MOL, took delivery of Fairchem Prestige on November 12.

MOL Chemical Tankers said this is FCC’s third LNG-dual fuel 26,000-dwt vessel.

Fukuoka Shipbuilding launched Fairchem Prestige in April this year.

Prior to this, Fukuoka floated out Fairchem Pathfinder in September last year and Fairchem Pioneer in April 2023.

FCC took delivery of Fairchem Pathfinder in May this year and Fairchem Pioneer in July this year.

According to FCC’s website, it expects to welcome in its fleet Fairchem Pinnacle, the fourth and last vessel in this series in 2025.

The shipping firm ordered Fairchem Pioneer and Fairchem Pathfinder in June 2021.

After that, it exercised an option for two more stainless steel chemical tankers, Fairchem Prestige and Fairchem Pinnacle, in 2022.

MOL Chemical Tankers completed purchase of FCC for $400 million in March this year.

FCC’s fleet consists of 36 chemical tankers.
