GAIL to start shipping US LNG with MOL newbuild

India’s GAIL will soon start using a newbuild LNG carrier it has chartered from Japan’s MOL to ship its US contracted volumes to India.

MOL said it held a digital naming cermony on February 9 for the 298 meters long Gail Bhuwan.

In addition, South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering is the builder of the 180,000-cbm vessel.

State-run Gail has long-term agreements from Cheniere’s Sabine Pass and the Dominion Cove facility in the US.

The vessel will ship LNG from the US Gulf Coast to India, for meeting the country’s energy need but also to other markets globally, according to MOL.

To remind, MOL and Gail signed the charter contract for the newbuild back in June 2019.

Furthermore, the vessel features GTT’s NO96 containment system and WinGD dual-fuel X-DF propulsion.
