GTT bags DSME tank gig for six LNG carriers

French LNG containment giant GTT has secured a new order from South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering.

Under the new contract, GTT will design the tanks of six 174,000-cbm LNG carriers scheduled for delivery between the third quarter of 2025 and the fourth quarter of 2026, according to a statement.

The tanks will be fitted with GTT’s NO96 L03+ membrane containment system.

GTT said it had won the contract in the third quarter and that DSME is building the vessels on behalf of two Asian owners.

The Paris-based firm did not provide any additional information.

DSME, which is being acquired by South Korea’s Hanwha Group, revealed a deal for six LNG carriers earlier this month.

This deal is tied to the giant shipbuilding program by QatarEnergy.

Japan’s Meiji Shipping ordered four of these LNG carriers and Malaysia’s MISC ordered two.
