GTT books order from DSME for LNG carrier trio

French LNG containment giant GTT said it has secured a new order from South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering.

According to a statement on Tuesday, GTT will design tanks for three 200,000-cbm LNG vessels.

GTT said it won the order in March and the vessels would feature its NO96 membrane containment system.

DSME expects to deliver the LNG carriers to an undisclosed owner in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The LNG containment specialist did not provide any additional information regarding the order.

This contract is probably related to an announcement by DSME issued on March 24.

Under that order, the Korean shipbuilder said it would build three supersized LNG carriers for about $707 million and deliver the vessels to an unidentified owner in North America by the end of December 2025.

Shipbuilding sources said that US exporter Venture Global LNG was behind this order for the three 200,000-cbm carriers, the company’s first move into LNG shipping.

Venture Global has not yet commented on this development.
