French LNG containment giant GTT signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China Offshore Engineering & Technology in Shanghai to develop FLNG and FSRU solutions.
According to a GTT statement, the two partners will collaborate to explore the application of GTT’s membrane technologies, develop solutions, and provide value-added services through digital tools.
GTT said this partnership builds on a successful joint development project completed in 2024, which set the stage for future collaboration.
GTT general manager in China, Adnan Ezzarhouni, said this agreement “reflects our shared commitment to driving innovation and delivering advanced solutions in the FLNG and FSRU sectors.”
“By combining GTT’s expertise in membrane technologies with China Offshore’s operational excellence, we aim to shape the future of energy infrastructure and meet the evolving needs of the industry,” he said.
“Our team will benefit from GTT’s expertise to improve the performance of our designed FLNG and FSRU,” Yao Jun, vice president of China Offshore said.
GTT received orders for 68 liquefied natural gas carriers, including 18 giant LNG vessels, in the first nine months of 2024.
As of September 30, 2024, GTT’s order book, excluding LNG as fuel, stood at 350 units.
This includes 325 LNG carriers, 16 ethane carriers, two FSRUs, two FLNGs, and also five onshore storage tanks.
