GTT confirms Hudong tank gig for LNG carrier sextet

France’s GTT confirmed it would design the tanks of six 174,000-cbm LNG carriers recently ordered at Chinese shipbuilder Hudong-Zhonghua.

The LNG containment giant said in a statement on Wednesday that each tank would be fitted with its membrane containment system.

GTT did not provide any additional information.

LNG Prime reported on this order worth about 7.5 billion yuan ($1.17 billion) earlier this month.

Japan’s shipping giant MOL ordered the six vessels which will go on charter to a unit of state-owned energy giant CNOOC.

COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation, via its Shanghai-based unit CSLNG, is also a part of the transportation project.

The 299 meters long vessels will feature WinGD’s X-DF dual-fuel engines and GTT’s NO96 Super+ containment system.

Hudong will deliver the vessels between the fourth quarter of 2024 and the third quarter of 2026.
