French LNG containment giant GTT has secured more orders from South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering.
Under three new contracts, GTT will design the tanks of four 174,000-cbm LNG carriers scheduled for delivery between the third and the fourth quarters of 2026, according to a statement.
The tanks will be fitted with GTT’s NO96 membrane containment system.
GTT said that DSME would build the vessels on behalf of several international shipowners.
The Paris-based firm said it had secured the orders in the fourth quarter of the last year but it did not provide any additional information.
DSME’s latest orders in 2022 include a contract for single LNG carrier with Maran Gas and also for MOL as well as two LNG carriers tied to Venture Global LNG.
The shipbuilder, which is being acquired by Hanwha Group, set a record in 2022 for the largest number of orders for LNG carriers in a year since its establishment, surpassing its yearly record of 37 LNG carriers in 2014.
In total, the shipbuilder won orders worth about $10.4 billion last year, including orders for six LNG-powered containerships and 38 LNG tankers.
