GTT scores new LNG tank gig from Samsung Heavy

French LNG containment giant GTT has secured another order from South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries.

Under the new contract, GTT will design the tanks of three 174,000-cbm LNG carriers scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, according to a statement.

The tanks will be fitted with GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system.

GTT said that SHI is building the vessels for an Asian shipowner, but it did not reveal more details regarding the contract.

This order could be related to an announcement in May where SHI revealed an order for three LNG carriers with an African owner worth about $671 million.

SHI will hand over these carriers by January 2026.

Sources and brokers said that South Korea’s H-Line Shipping had ordered these vessels on the back of a charter with Petronas.
