GTT scores tank gig from Hudong-Zhonghua for six LNG carriers

France’s GTT has secured a new contract to design the tanks of six LNG carriers ordered at Chinese shipbuilder Hudong-Zhonghua.

GTT said in a statement that the 174,000-cbm vessels would be fitted with its NO96 Super+ containment system.

Hudong-Zhonghua plans to deliver the vessels to several Asian owners between the third quarter of 2027 and the fourth quarter of 2028, GTT said.

The Paris-based LNG containment giant did not provide any additional information.

Hudong-Zhonghua has won a record number of orders for LNG carriers last year.

Part of this new order GTT revealed could be related to the three 174,000-cbm LNG carriers Japan’s MOL ordered at Hudong-Zhonghua for charter to a unit of Chinese independent gas distributor ENN.

Hudong-Zhonghua will deliver these vessels in 2028.

Prior to this order, GTT announced a contract for nine LNG carriers with the Chinese shipbuilder.
