Hyundai Samho awards new LNG tank job to GTT

French LNG containment giant GTT has secured a new order from South Korea’s Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.

According to a statement on Tuesday, GTT will provide design and associated engineering services for the tanks of one 174,000-cbm LNG carrier.

Also, GTT said the vessel would feature its Mark III Flex membrane containment system

HSHI expects to deliver the vessel in the fourth quarter of 2025 to an unidentified Asian owner, GTT said.

The Paris-based firm did not provide any additional information.

This order could be related to an announcement by HSHI’s parent KSOE on April 26.

KSOE said then that HSHI would build one LNG carrier for about $224 million and deliver it by October 2025 to an unidentified European shipowner.

Japan’s NYK said after this announcement that its French joint venture with Geogas LNG had ordered this vessel at HSHI and chartered it to EDF.

Besides this order, KSOE also revealed a contract in April for one 174,000-cbm LNG carrier with delivery by December 2025.

HSHI will build this vessel for a European owner. This order is tied to Norway’s Knutsen.
