Hyundai Samho awards new LNG tank job to GTT

French LNG containment giant GTT has secured a new order from South Korea’s Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.

Under the contract awarded in the second quarter of this year, GTT will design the tanks of two LNG carriers with a capacity of 174,000 cbm.

Accordingt to a GTT statement, the vessels will feature GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system.

GTT added that HSHI plans to deliver the LNG carriers to an Asian shipowner in the first and second quarters of 2027, but it did not provide any additional information.

This deal is probably related to a recent contract HSHI’s parent HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering announced for two LNG carriers worth about $523 million.

HSHI will deliver these vessels by October 2027.

Shipbuilding sources told LNG Prime that Japan’s NYK is behind this order.
