ITD Cementation bags contract for third Dahej LNG jetty

India’s Petronet LNG has selected compatriot ITD Cementation to build the third jetty at the Dahej LNG import terminal in western Gujarat state.

Earlier this year, Petronet launched a new tender inviting EPC contractors to submit bids for the planned third Dahej LNG jetty.

ITD Cementation, a unit of Italian-Thai Development Public Company, said in a statement it has secured a marine contract for constructing the third jetty and specified additional works at the Dahej LNG terminal in the state of Gujarat.

The company said the contract is worth about 10.82 billion Indian rupees ($126 million), including taxes and duties.

ITD Cementation did not mention Petronet in the release or provide further information regarding the contract.

Petronet’s finance chief Vinod Mishra said in January during the company’s quarterly results the company expects it would take about 36 months to complete the jetty.

He said that this jetty would be diversified and able to import propane, ethane, as well as LNG, giving Petronet more flexibility in operations.

Petronet is currently expanding its 17.5 mtpa Dahej LNG terminal with about 5 mtpa of new capacity, and is also constructing two additional LNG tanks on top of the six existing tanks.

Mishra said the new capacity is expected to be available by March 2025.

Besides the Dahej LNG terminal, Petronet operates the 5 mtpa Kochi LNG facility and is working on the Gopalpur FSRU project.

Petronet expects a 15 percent rise in India’s imports of LNG during this financial year.
