Mitsubishi Heavy bags Ust-Luga LNG gig

Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries said it would supply the main refrigeration gas compression trains for the Ust-Luga LNG project in Russia as part of a contract revealed on Thursday.

MHI said in a statement it had secured the contract from Linde Engineering, which along Renaissance Heavy Industries will build the two-train 13 mtpa LNG export plant in the Baltic port of Ust-Luga.

The order consists of four high-efficiency dual shaft 120 megawatt H-100 gas turbines and ten centrifugal compressors, according to MHI.

MHI did not reveal the price tag of the contract. It said the partners plan to launch LNG production by 2026.

Gazprom and partner RusGazDobycha started building the massive Ust-Luga complex, which includes the LNG plant earlier this year.

RusKhimAlyans, a joint venture established on a parity basis by the duo, will operate the complex.

Besides the two liquefaction units, Gazprom is also looking into adding a third train at the natural gas and LNG production complex.
