According to a tender document posted on RPGCL’s website, the delivery windows are February 6-7, and February 13-14.
RPGCL issued the tender to “the 16 organizations that have signed the MSPA (master sale and purchase agreement) with Petrobangla.”
Previously, the company used to invite 23 companies to take part in the bidding.
The tender will close on January 13.
Prior to this tender, RGPCL invited bids on December 31, 2024, for two spot LNG cargoes with delivery windows January 30-31, 2025, and February 6-7.
After that, RPGCL issued a tender on January 1, 2025, with the same delivery windows.
This means that the RPGCL is seeking bids for the February 6-7 delivery for the third time.
According to local media reports, Bangladesh awarded a tender this week to US FSRU player Excelerate Energy to deliver one spot LNG cargo to Petrobangla.
The price is reportedly at $15.69/MMBtu.
Bangladesh currently imports LNG via two FSRU-based facilities, both of which feature Excelerate’s FSRUs.
The 138,000-cbm FSRU Excellence serves Bangladesh’s first LNG import facility, Moheshkhali Floating LNG or MLNG, operated by Petrobangla.
Excelerate’s 138,000-cbm FSRU Summit LNG serves as the second LNG import facility operated by Summit.
Excelerate just announced that it has completed its 3,000th ship-to-ship (STS) operation since 2007.
The milestone was achieved on December 28, 2024, onboard its FSRU Excellence which received a cargo delivery from Maran Gas Asclepius at the MLNG terminal.
Besides providing FSRUs and spot cargoes, Excelerate also signed a 15-year LNG supply deal with Petrobangla last year.
Excelerate joined forces with state-owned LNG giant QatarEnergy to deliver these supplies to Bangladesh.
Under the SPA with QatarEnergy, Excelerate will buy up to one million tons per annum of LNG from QatarEnergy to be delivered to FSRUs in Bangladesh for 15 years starting in January 2026.
