Greek LNG shipping firm TMS Cardiff Gas has added two new 174,000-cbm liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers to its fleet.
TMS and South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries announced the naming ceremony for Spirit LNG in social media posts on Friday.
The vessel will soon commence its service with US energy giant ConocoPhillips, according to TMS.
TMS did not provide further details.
Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore said in a separate social media post that South Korea’s HD Hyundai Samho recently held a naming ceremony for one 174,000-cbm built for TMS Cardiff Gas.
The ceremony for Olympus LNG took place at HD HSHI’s shipyard in Yeongam on March 3, it said.
In December last year, HD Hyundai Samho hosted a naming ceremony for Parthenon LNG.
TMS said at the time that this is the first of three vessels it has on order at HD Hyundai, and the second of seven in its current expansion program.
In addition to these vessels, George Economou-led TMS ordered four 174,000-cbm LNG carriers from China’s Hudong-Zhonghua in January this year.
The contract also includes two optional vessels.
