In 2023, CIMC’s unit TGE Gas Engineering announced that it will work on this project in a consortium with CIMC Enric Engineering Technology (CET) and China Construction Second Engineering Bureau (CSCEC).
The scope of work includes two 160,000-cbm full containment LNG storage tanks, a process plant, and a new loading/unloading jetty able to receive LNG vessels with capacities from 3,000 cbm to 217,000 cbm.
TGE Gas said in an update last week that the project achieved a “significant” milestone with the completion of all foundation pile construction for the T-213 LNG storage tank.
This marks the conclusion of the core foundation work for the storage tanks.
Following the completion of works, the extended LNG plant will have a capacity of 2 million tons per year.
TGE Gas said the expansion will enhance the natural gas peak-shaving and emergency supply capabilities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area
CIMC Enric Engineering Technology and TGE Gas previously delivered the first phase of the Shenzhen LNG storage and peak shaving, as noted in the statement.
According to the Shenzhen Gas website, the first phase of the facility launched operations in August 2019.
It features one 80,000-cbm storage tank and one LNG jetty capable of handling vessels ranging from 10,000 cbm to 90,000 cbm.
The facility has a capacity of approximately 800,000 tons.
