Wuhu to deliver Donsotank’s 1st LNG-powered tanker

China’s Wuhu yard will soon deliver the first out of two LNG-powered product and chemical tankers it is building for Swedish privately-owned shipping firm Donsotank.

The yard launched the 22,000-dwt Prospero in January this year and its sister ship Pacifico in June.

Donsotank said in an update on Wednesday that the first hybrid tanker was performing the sea trial, adding that the results and performance “are much better than expected.”

The owner expects to take delivery of the vessel, designed by FKAB, in December this year.

Both of the Ice class 1A ships have Wartsila LNG propulsion, but Wuhu will also equip them with a battery pack.

In addition, the 167.3 meters long vessels feature an F-Bow design hull optimized to withstand harsh weather conditions.
